Going Green Event at the Library: What Is a Hybrid Car?

Members of the Chicago Prius Club will discuss hybrid cars: what a hybrid is, how they operate, how they get good gas mileage, and how they impact our environment. Some hybrid cars will be on hand for your inspection. Bring your questions and talk to hybrid car owners.

The program will take place at the Morton Grove Public Library’s Baxter Room Auditorium on Sunday, October 3, from 1-3pm.  Registration is not required.  Questions?  Call the Reference Desk at 847-929-5101.



Trashy Fashion

Calling all paper bead makers! Help make beads by attending the Library’s monthly crafting group, Get Hooked.  Paper bead makers are needed to help create a beaded dress for MGPL’s entry in SWANCC’s Trashy Fashion Show, to be held Friday, November 13, 7 pm, at the Glenview Park District Park Center. Garments will be judged on visual impact, originality, use of “trash” (MGPL’s dress will be made of recycled flyers) and practicality.

Limit: 20. Registration is required.

Going Green Event at the Library: Container Gardening Do’s and Don’ts

Master Gardener Colleen Graudins will present an illustrated discussion about: choosing containers, determining the best types of potting soil, arranging colors, and selecting plants. Registration is requested.gardening1

Who Killed the Electric Car?

electric_carLooking for something to do on a cold January day?  Come to the Library at 11:30am on January 6 for a showing of Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006).  Narrated by Martin Sheen, the film investigates the development and demise of the fuel-efficient, environment-friendly electric car.  Registration is not required.  Call the Library at 847-965-4220 for more information.



Our Ever-Changing Earth

Join us tonight at the Library for a program featuring geologist and author Raymond Wiggers as he presents an illustrated lecture showing how recent advances in the earth sciences have revolutionized our way of looking at the Earth. Registration not required.
